Kappa Detroit Foundation

The Kappa Detroit Foundation is the 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt charitable foundation created by the Detroit Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. 

It is a separate non-profit organization, with the main objective of developing and implementing charitable programs on behalf of the Detroit Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.  It also is the purpose of this foundation to engage in community rehabilitation and maintenance of all type.  The Foundation strives to help produce a better quality life for all through education, redevelopment and training.  In addition, the foundation provides to young people academically oriented services such as tutoring, leadership training, career exposure, and financial assistance in the form of scholarships and loans.  The foundation also assists various community based and social service organizations by providing homes for the elderly, and for physical redevelopment of housing.

The Foundation is a membership organization and is managed by a board of directors. The officers of the board consist of 10 members including the Polemarch, Vice Polemarch , Exchequer and Keeper of Records of Detroit Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

The Detroit Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and the Kappa Detroit Foundation have been providing college scholarships and financial aid to many young people in the metro Detroit area since 1920.  These scholarship and financial aid funds have made it possible for many academically deserving students to attend college who might not have otherwise been able to attend.

The Board and membership body of the Kappa Detroit Foundation believe that those of us who have been afforded the opportunity to receive higher education have the responsibility to help some of our youth who are less fortunate.
